Correct pruning can provide an enhanced fruit crop or may be required to stop the tree getting too big for its location. A tree may be too big for the space it is in or maybe interfering with the highway or phone wires. Even if the tree is a good size it is recommended to get it checked every few years to see if any deadwood needs removing.
Whether you require a tree removed due to safety concerns, development of property or simply personal choice we can provide a full range of services.
In the wild trees do not require pruning. The requirement to prune is for human benefit. Correct pruning can provide an enhanced fruit crop or may just be required to stop the tree getting too big for its location. It is advisable to prune trees into a good shape when they are young to help reduce the need when they are older, this is called formative pruning. It is better to prune younger trees as they are more vigorous and it is likely that the wounds you will be making will be smaller and therefore easier for the tree to heal. Wounds on the tree let in pathogens and fungal spores which can induce rot and make the tree weaker in years to come.
Sometimes the need to prune larger trees arises due to the proximity of them to people and property. A tree may be too big for the space it is in or maybe interfering with the highway or phone wires. Even if the tree is a good size it is recommended to get it checked every few years to see if any deadwood needs removing.
If the tree is safe and more light is needed for the property there are a couple of options, crown thinning, crown reduction, crown lifting and targeted limb removal can be undertaken.
Whether you require a tree removed due to safety concerns, development of property or simply personal choice we can provide a full range of services. Where there is space we can provide felling services. If space is tight, and there are buildings or other obstacles in the way we can provide various aerial solutions.
We have qualified arborists who can safely climb the tree and dismantle it from the top down. This can be done using free fall techniques, or in trickier situations we are able to set up various rigging systems. These either use pulleys and friction devices to lower things safely, or set up ziplines to avoid on obstacles directly below the tree. We also use Cherry Pickers or MEWP’s (Mobile Elevated Work Platform’s) where possible, this is safer than tree climbing, especially on some trees that have high amounts of rot.
When the tree is down to ground level, the problem then is, what to do with the stump? We can also provide stump treatment and stump-grinding services if it is required. Stump Grinding will completely remove the woody remnants beneath the ground, this is ideal if you need to reuse the area for building or planting some other trees, shrubs or other herbaceous plants. Stump Grinding is expensive, we provide alternate solutions where required. If the stumps are small we can winch them out if appropriate or dig them up. Alternatively, if the stump can stay put and just needs killing off, we can use Eco-plugs to inject a dose of weed killer directly into the stump. These stop the stump resprouting and are environmentally safe as any chemical are kept with in the stump. The stump will then rot away over a number of years.
“Ryan, Luke and team did a brilliant job. I was kept well informed and consulted where necessary. The work was of a very high standard and their communication and professionalism excellent. I would highly recommend and will be using Batemans' Tree and Garden Services in the future for any further garden work.”
“Tony and his team did the most amazing job. They worked tirelessly on the project from beginning to end. They were a pleasure to have around, polite, tidy, on time and went over and beyond our expectations. The job turned out to be more involved than we all originally thought and we were happy to renegotiate the price slightly, even though Tony did not expect it. We honestly cannot fault the work they did and would highly recommend Arbor and Hort to anyone.”
“Would highly recommend Ryan and his team. At last I have found someone who I will want to use again in the future. There was good, prompt communication before the job, they arrived on the date agreed, worked very hard, and returned the following day to check everything was ok as it had got dark and they couldn't see very well. Exceeded my expectations. A good job well done and value for money. Thank you.”
“Ryan and his team did a really high quality and professional job. Communication was excellent throughout and ensured the end result was what I wanted. I will definitely be using them again in the future. I highly recommend them.”
“Good standard of work and Ryan clearly knows his stuff, really helpful when deciding what to do with lots of over grown trees.”
“Excellent job and very professional. Feedback from passers by were amazed at the tidying up afterwards. Would definitely use again. They provided great advice about another unwieldy plant.”
